Cristina Peixoto, Head of the Downstream Process Development Lab at iBET, was invited to integrate the experts panel in “The Art of Gene Therapy“, a five-session digital summit organized by Merck KGaA.

At the summit, Cristina shared insights on new strategies to improve viral vectors purification processes. A current hot-topic in pharmaceutical industry as a result from the increasing number of gene therapy products recently approved and on the pipeline for approval by the US Food and Drug Association and European Medicines Agency.

“The Art of Gene Therapy” aimed to inform stakeholders from the industry and regulatory agencies on the current status of gene therapy product development, future technologies, technical challenges and regulatory guidelines. The summit was specially focused on EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region specificities.
